CoWatch

Turns a codebase into a single interactive HTML report — dependency graphs, churn, ERD and more.

Python GitHub ↗

CoWatch turns a codebase into one interactive HTML report. Point it at a repository and it writes a single file that works offline, with more than twenty views. They include dependency graphs at three depths, a service map, a Temporal workflow-to-activity graph, BPMN diagrams, a Kafka topic map, an ERD from SQLAlchemy models, churn and co-change coupling, author concentration, a hotspot treemap, and a 3D code city.

The goal is to understand a polyglot codebase from one file you can open anywhere. Analysis reads the target without changing it and uses only the Python standard library, with one optional dependency for complexity metrics. Python is parsed from the AST, TypeScript resolves the real tsconfig.json path aliases, and Kotlin is resolved by package and import. Every view has a “How to read this view” guide, and views with no data hide themselves.

The README is plain about the limits. Only static imports are visible, TypeScript resolution is regex-based and misses a few percent, and git views need git history. It also warns that each report should be treated as being as confidential as the code it describes.

I published it in July 2026 as a single commit.
