This server gives an AI assistant one tool, search_movies, which searches The Movie Database by title. You can filter by release year and page through the results. It doesn’t cover TV shows or detailed movie lookups. It’s a single search tool.
It works with Cline or any other MCP client, and it needs TMDB credentials. One honest gap: the README says to set TMDB_API_KEY, but the code reads a TMDB_ACCESS_TOKEN (sent as a bearer token).
I wrote it in one commit on 24 March 2025, during a run of small MCP servers, and haven’t maintained it since. It has open issues that I haven’t addressed.
